Mike Hedges AC datganiad am Tabernacle Treforus yn Y Senedd

Tabernacl Treforys: mae adeilad capel Tabernacl yn adeilad arbennig iawn. Disgrifiodd George Thomas y Tabernacl fel eglwys gadeiriol yr anghydffurfwyr. Heblaw am fod yn gapel hardd, mae Tabernacl yn ganolfan grefyddol a diwylliannol yng nghwm Tawe isaf. Ond, yn anffodus, mae llai o bobl yn mynd i’r capel y dyddiau yma. Mae hyn yn codi cwestiynau difrifol am ddyfodol y Tabernacl. Rhaid cael digon o bobl i godi arian er mwyn derbyn grant oddi wrth Cadw.

Y capel mwyaf, y mwyaf crand a’r drutaf yng Nghymru—geiriau Anthony Jones am y Tabernacl yn ei lyfr ‘Welsh Chapels’. Ydy, mae’n gapel arbennig: capel eiconig, rhestredig gradd I. Aeth y gweinidog, Emlyn Jones, y pensaer, John Humphrey, a’r adeiladwr, William Edwards, o gwmpas Prydain i weld y capeli gorau. Mae gan flaen y Tabernacl wyth colofn anferth. Tu fewn, ceir arddangosfa o waith seiri coed mewn mahogani, gyda galeri côr hyfryd ac organ fendigedig. Yn dilyn y diwygiad ym 1904, tyfodd aelodaeth y Tabernacl i dros 1,500. Erbyn heddiw, mae llai na 100 yn mynychu’r capel. Beth fydd dyfodol y Tabernacl, tybed?
