Update on St Johns Church, Morriston

Dear Assembly Member,

I have been asked to attend the above property at St. Johns Church, Morriston, to investigate vegetation, growing out of the building.

I visited today. It appears that there is shrubbery growing from the bell tower and roof area around the tower. My inspection reveals that there does not appear to be any loose stone work to the upper areas at present. It is therefore not considered an imminent dangerous structure.

However , I inspected the dwarf stone walls, around the perimeter, enclosing the church. Some areas of stone work require  attention. It was noted that there was vegetation around the perimeter.

I have contacted the owner of the property, by phone, Mr Andrew Shipley, and asked him to attend site, to remedy the defective stone work. Mr Shipley has agreed to clear these matters as soon as possible in the New Year.
