MIKE HEDGES AM SUPPORTS £2 STAKE ON FIXED ODDS BETTING TERMINALS AS OVER £50 MILLION IS LOST ON THE MACHINES IN WALES.

Mike Hedges AM pledged their support to see the maximum stake to £2 on Fixed Odds Betting Terminal machines (FOBT) at a drop in event at the Welsh Assembly; organised in conjunction with the Westminster All – Party Parliamentary Group on FOBT.

Mike Hedges AM heard about the staggering amount lost on FOBTs all over the country and in particular Wales as campaigners call on the UK Government to reduce the stakes to £2.

The highly addictive machines which have been dubbed the crack cocaine of gambling, allow punters to stake £100 every 30 seconds on electronic versions of casino games such as Roulette, but in a very low supervision environment such as High Street book makers.

The Campaign is supported by The General Synod of the Church of England, 93 Local Authorities, and The Royal Society for Public Health.

The Westminster Campaign is chaired by Carolyn Harris MP.
