Mike welcomes business loan scheme take-up

Figures showing that nearly 300 new Welsh businesses have been set-up over the last 10 months thanks to Welsh Government backed low interest start-up loans has today been welcomed by Swansea Labour AM Mike Hedges.

To date, £2.2m has been drawn down by 291 new businesses across Wales – helping to create brand new businesses and supporting recently created enterprises. The loans, which were launched in Wales in October 2013, are available as part of the Welsh Government’s Business Wales Start up Service.

Commenting on the latest figures, Swansea East AM Mike Hedges said:

“Small and independent businesses are truly the backbone of our communities in Swansea and Wales. They support both local jobs and the local economy, which is why I’m pleased to welcome the latest figures showing a huge rise in the number of new enterprises being set-up, thanks to Welsh Government backed funding.”
