£1.4m investment to boost ICT skills

The Welsh Government is investing over £1.4million in two high level skills programmes to address the current and future skills demands of the ICT sector in Wales.

The funding is for two pilot programmes that will run in tandem and provide up to 550 people with the specific ICT skills identified by employers across Wales. The two programmes are:

  • Pathways to Digital Employment, will up-skill and retrain up to 300 people who are not in work – including recent graduates and military leavers, and;
  • Pathways to Digital Growth, which is supported by the European Social Fund, will further develop some 250 employed IT professionals to a certified standard that fully meets the demands of their job and their employers’ needs.

Both training programmes will launch on 1st October 2013 and will be managed and delivered across Wales by e-skills UK.
