£3m Swansea link road completed ahead of schedule

A new £3million link road – a key part of the overall Fabian Way Corridor development on the outskirts of Swansea – opens next month, three months ahead of schedule and on budget.

The 1.5km highway – a Welsh Labour Government led project – is the second and final stage of the Ffordd Amazon road, the first stage provided access to Amazon’s distribution centre.

This second stage is strategically important as it will enable a second access road to be built to serve Coed Darcy, a £1.2 billion regeneration scheme covering 1060 acres of land in the ownership of St. Modwen, a private sector developer. The mixed use development is to include 4000 new homes that will require this second access.

The extension of Ffordd Amazon will also release 30 acres of privately owned employment land and five acres of Welsh Government owned employment land for development purposes.
