MIKE HEDGES AM WELCOMES THE DEFFERMENT OF BIFFA PLANNING APPLICATION

Speaking after news that Swansea Council planning Committee has deferred a BIFFA Application for a Waste Incinerator so that it could be determined by Welsh Assembly Ministers following a Call in request by Mr Hedges, Mike said….. I am pleased that this decision has been made and the application will now be determined by Ministers.

I would now request that the evidence gathering element of the next stage of the process is conducted in public prior to a recommendation on a decision being made to the Minister. It is important that people can have their say in a planning process and a public enquiry or public evidence gathering by a planning inspector would ensure public confidence in the planning system is maintained.

I shall be writing to the Minister requesting this.
