MIKE HEDGES MS ASKS FOR GOVERNMENT STATEMENT ON SUPPORT FOR PEOPLE WITH MORE THAN ONE NEUROLOGICAL CONDITION

Speaking from his Senedd office, local Swansea East MS, Mike Hedges said….. ‘ I have met with constituents from Swansea who have struggled to gain appropriate support because they have more than one condition and have complex needs which cannot be met by one service alone, and problems occur when services cannot be provided in sync with each other.

We must find ways to better support people with complex multiple conditions and I hope the new NHS Executive can provide more joined up support for people with complex multiple conditions’

I’m asking for a statement on support for people with more that one neurological condition. People can have more than one of Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy—sometimes all three. The statement should include what additional support is available for those with more than one condition.

With regard to support for people with more that one neurological condition, since 2017 £1 million of funding annually has been allocated to the neurological conditions implementation group to support the development and implementation of equitable, high-quality services for all people living with neurological conditions, including those with more than one condition. We will continue to support this activity going forward via the newly established NHS executive.
