Mike welcomes City Regions report

Swansea East AM Mike Hedges has today welcomed the findings of the City Regions report published by Dr Elizabeth Hayward, which puts forward 22 recommendations to help economic growth in Wales. This has included the establishment of 2 City Regions, one based in and around the Swansea Bay area.

The Group was established last autumn to determine whether a city region approach looked more likely to deliver more jobs and greater prosperity than current approaches to economic development.

Speaking about the report’s recommendations, Mike Hedges said:

“City Regions have a huge range of benefits, such as higher employment rates, better local infrastructure, and better standards of living for hundreds of thousands of people. Welsh Cities like Swansea prove to be perfect starting points for City Regions, with huge potential for growth, and just the right population levels. I look forward to hearing the Welsh Government‘s response to this report later on in the year.”
