No Cold Calling Zones extended

Funding to support the Welsh Labour Government’s commitment to extend the coverage of No Cold Calling Zones in Wales has been announced by Local Government and Government Business Minister, Lesley Griffiths.

The Minister has said that over £35,000 has been made available to support local councils in developing new zones. The funding will see new zones created covering over 12,000 homes in Wales, and taking the total number of properties covered to over 50,000.

No Cold Calling Zones are aimed at protecting vulnerable residents and reduce the number of doorstep crime incidents by identifying areas in which doorstep callers are not welcome. They are intended to give local residents and communities the confidence to say “no” to uninvited salespeople or to warn rogue traders and cold-callers they are being watched.
