Swansea AMs call on the Assembly to ‘Back the Bid’

Swansea City Assembly Members Julie James and Mike Hedges have tabled a Statement of Opinion, the equivalent of an Early Day Motion in Westminster, urging their fellow AMs from every corner of Wales to back Swansea Bay’s bid to be City of Culture in 2017.

Swansea West AM Julie James said:

“The fact that Swansea Bay has reached the shortlist for the City of Culture is wonderful. If we can win the bid in November it’ll be great news not only for our economy, regeneration and cultural health here in Swansea Bay but it’ll great for Wales too.”

Swansea East AM Mike Hedges added:

“That’s why we’re urging every Assembly Member from right across the whole of Wales, irrespective of the colour of their Party, to show unity and sign up and actively support Swansea Bay for the city of Culture.”
